WRC dismisses tenant’s discrimination complaint after he leaves hearing

By Orla Quinn

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC found that a tenant failed to pursue his discrimination complaint after leaving a hearing without giving evidence. The decision was dated 2 February 2018; the merits were not decided.

The tenant had alleged discrimination on gender, religion and race grounds. He asked the WRC to hear only one complaint, then left without offering evidence. The landlady attended and was prepared to give evidence on all the complaints. The WRC found that the tenant had failed to establish a prima facie case of discriminatory treatment.
