The Workplace Relations Commission recommended a compromise for a child project worker seeking two half-days off during the school term. Adjudication Officer Patsy Doyle dated the recommendation 31 January 2018. The worker would continue a 4.5-day week, with the second half-day arranged with the children’s service during term time. During school holidays, she would work the 4.5-day week. The recommendation applied to 2017 alone. The worker sought to extend an existing work-life balance arrangement. The service cited staffing pressures and demand, and had offered alternative schedules. The WRC said both sides had compelling positions and found merit in the dispute.
