The WRC found a bike mechanic entitled to a statutory redundancy lump sum after his employer’s shop closed. The decision was dated 9 February 2018. He worked for the employer from 26 July 2005 to 22 April 2017 and was paid €500 gross a week. The employer did not dispute his entitlement and said a previous accountant had failed to process the application. The lump sum is based on his employment dates and weekly pay, subject to the employment being insurable under the Social Welfare Acts.
