WRC rejects driver’s redundancy and annual-leave complaints against haulage company

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC found a driver’s redundancy and annual-leave complaints against a haulage company not well founded in a decision dated 28 May 2018. The driver said he had received statutory redundancy but was still owed holiday pay, including three days by the current employer. The company argued that both claims related to the driver’s former employer, a sole trader who had been declared bankrupt. The WRC noted that the driver had received his statutory redundancy payment and found the annual-leave complaint concerned the former employer, not the respondent.
