The WRC recommended that a pharmaceutical company invite a process operator back on a fresh six-month fixed-term contract. The recommendation, dated 1 May 2018, followed a finding that the operator was dismissed after a manufacturing error and denied fair procedures. The company said the cleaning-protocol breach was serious and could have had grave consequences for patients. The adjudication officer recognised the seriousness of the error but found the company took a procedural shortcut in handling it. The officer said the appeal did not address the decision not to renew the operator’s contract.
