The WRC found that a plant operator’s complaint over a 12-month final written warning failed. The decision was dated 21 May 2018. The operator accepted some failings but argued that a final warning was excessive given his 14 years’ service and lack of prior formal warnings. The adjudicator found that the safety-critical role required extensive training, that the issue was how he applied his skills rather than his capability, and that he had previously been counselled about his performance. The warning was found to be merited.
