Bakery ordered to pay driver €1,600 for unfair dismissal

By Rory Hanlon

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC found that a bakery unfairly dismissed a driver and ordered it to pay €1,600 compensation. The decision was dated 1 May 2018. The officer found there had been no investigation or reasonable appeal, and the driver was not given a fair chance to answer allegations that influenced the dismissal. The bakery also had to pay €406.50 gross in outstanding wages and two weeks’ minimum notice pay of €800. All three complaints were upheld.
