The WRC awarded a hotel head chef €3,750 in notice pay after finding the hotel failed to provide the one month’s notice required by his contract. A separate claim for 14 additional days’ pay failed. Adjudication Officer Caroline McEnery dated the decision 3 May 2018. The employee said he was owed €2,423 for extra days worked to get the kitchen running. The WRC found his salary included overtime and his contract provided for no extra pay for additional hours. The hotel said he refused to work his notice and that his employment ended because of aggressive behaviour, but there was no paper trail or correspondence to confirm this account.
