The WRC directed a catering company to pay a chef €673 gross for one week’s pay in lieu of notice. In a decision dated 1 June 2018, Adjudication Officer Catherine Byrne found the company had agreed that he could work two weeks’ notice but dismissed him after one week. The chef said his contract provided for a month’s notice or pay in lieu. The company director said he was unsuitable and cited attendance and performance problems. At the hearing, she agreed to pay him for the week he was prevented from working.
