The Workplace Relations Commission found a member of the traveller community’s complaint against a local authority not well founded after the complainant missed three hearings. The decision was dated 10 August 2023. The complaint concerned alleged discrimination and harassment over accommodation needs. The complainant did not attend the hearings on 18 October, 16 November or 21 December 2022, and no medical certificate was provided for the final absence. The merits were not decided. The WRC also found that the county council was the correct respondent because its staff acted under its direction and it was vicariously liable for their actions.
