WRC rejects Sebastian Teixeira’s public-holiday, working-time and pay complaints

By Gráinne Nolan

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission found Sebastian Teixeira’s complaints against Ebonwood Limited, which traded as The Station House Hotel, not well founded. The decision was dated 4 February 2022. The complaints concerned public-holiday pay, hours and reduced hours, social-welfare forms, low pay, unpaid leave, a 10% pay reduction in 2009 and deductions Teixeira said were for his work permit. A payslip showed €2,805.90 paid for outstanding holiday entitlements and public holidays. The officer found that Teixeira’s employment contracts allowed varying hours. The reduced-hours complaint related to 2013; the unpaid-leave and 2009 pay-reduction complaints were outside the time limit. The officer also found no provision under the relevant Acts to deal with the social-welfare-forms and low-pay complaints. The work-permit deduction complaint lacked supporting evidence.
