The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Mark J. Savage’s complaint that Google Ireland Limited discriminated against him on religious grounds by refusing to remove newspaper articles from search results. The decision was dated 7 June 2023. Savage argued that Google Ireland was jointly responsible for the refusal, while the company said Google LLC operated Google Search and the takedown service. The officer found Google Ireland had no role in the alleged discrimination and was not vicariously liable for Google LLC. Savage had not established a prima facie case against Google Ireland.
