The Workplace Relations Commission found two wage complaints by Alicja Stadnicka-szymus against An Garda Siochana not well founded. The decision, dated 13 June 2023, concerned alleged deductions and reduced pay linked to overpayments and sick leave. In the first complaint, the officer found that €2,188.32 had not been deducted from Stadnicka-szymus’s wages on 11 June 2021. The officer noted that repayments of €10 a week for an earlier overpayment began after the complainant agreed to them. The second complaint challenged a €350 deduction, reduced income over three weeks and the routing of Illness Benefit to the employer. The officer found no illegal deduction had been made. The respondent said the reduced pay followed the exhaustion of paid sick leave and that the complainant was later restored to full pay under Critical Illness Provisions.
