The Workplace Relations Commission allowed Ramutis Ravinis’s redundancy claim against GL West Cork Motors Ltd. in a decision dated 1 August 2023. Ravinis said he received no statutory redundancy payment after his role was made redundant. The WRC found that the employer had ceased business and that his role was redundant. It said he was entitled to two weeks’ pay per year or part year, plus one week, subject to his employment being insurable and confirmation by the appropriate Government Agency. Reckonable service excludes any period of lay-off.
