The WRC struck out Roberto Alamazani’s Equal Status complaint against the Department Of Social Protection for want of pursuit after he did not attend the hearing. The decision was dated 22 May 2023; the merits were not decided. Alamazani told the WRC shortly before the hearing that he was ill, but provided no detail or medical evidence that day. The WRC advised him how to seek a postponement, but he did not follow those procedures. He later submitted a medical certificate saying he had been unfit to work on the hearing date. The adjudication officer struck out the complaint under section 48 of the Workplace Relations Act 2015, as amended.
