The WRC recommended that an employer pay a general operative €3,000 after finding he was unfairly dismissed without disciplinary procedures. The recommendation was dated 19 July 2023. The worker said he refused to carry out rigger duties because he was not qualified. The employer said the tasks were appropriate to his grade and his refusal amounted to gross misconduct. The WRC found the employer dismissed him without a formal process or giving him an opportunity to respond.
