The Workplace Relations Commission upheld Kristina Kopanova’s complaints against Voltaic Energy Systems Ltd over missing written employment terms and unpaid commission. In a decision dated 22 May 2023, it ordered the company to pay €1,680 compensation for the terms complaint and €400 net redress for the wages complaint. Kopanova said she received no written statement of her employment terms. She also said she was promised €50 for each successful client referral and estimated that about ten payments, worth €500 gross, were due. The respondent did not dispute the complaints or the detail of her claim, although its representative questioned the number of successful commissions. The WRC found the employer failed to provide written terms and that the agreed commission formed part of Kopanova’s wages. It accepted her €500 gross claim as an accurate account of the commission earned. The two redress amounts were €1,680 compensation and €400 net.
