The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Ioan Pop a redundancy lump sum of €8,676 after finding he was laid off when the restaurant where he worked closed during the Covid-19 lockdown and did not reopen. The WRC’s decision, dated 12 June 2023, followed a claim against Vicarmount Limited t/a Mexico To Rome. The payment is conditional on Pop having been in insurable employment during the relevant period.
