The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Eddie Claffey €3,059.56 in notice pay after finding that he had not received the one month’s notice payment due under his contract. The decision, dated 31 May 2023, rejected his claim that he had been underpaid wages. Claffey said he believed he was underpaid after starting work for Thrace Synthetic Packaging Limited because he had not been given the pay schedule referred to in his contract. The company said the schedule was attached to his contract and that he had received the wages due. The WRC accepted the company’s position on wages but found that Claffey’s employment ended on 1 July 2021 without the contractual notice payment. It awarded four weeks’ pay at €764.89 a week, amounting to €3,059.56.
