A WRC adjudication officer recommended that a retail employer introduce a system to document verbal conversations with staff and use verbal and written warnings earlier in difficult employment relationships. The recommendation was dated 6 April 2023. The worker said she felt unfairly dismissed because she had been sick. The officer noted that she did not dispute being absent on six occasions over ten months, often giving little notice, and having been reminded about this before.
