A WRC adjudication officer recommended a €500 voucher for an employee after the employer changed his pay from fortnightly to monthly. The recommendation was dated 23 February 2023. The employee, represented by SIPTU, said fortnightly pay was an express contract term and sought its return. The employer said monthly payroll would reduce administrative work, that it had consulted employees and that it extended the changeover date. The officer said monthly pay could benefit the employer but required significant adjustment for employees. The delay in handling the grievance compounded the employee’s sense that the change had been imposed unilaterally. The officer recommended compensation in the form of a €500 voucher.
