The Workplace Relations Commission awarded truck driver Tomasz Godlejewski €3,000 after finding his employer, Prince And Sons Expess Transport Limited, had not issued him a written contract. The decision was dated 24 July 2024. The WRC also found his unfair dismissal complaint well founded and awarded him €1,500. The adjudication officer said the company had followed no process before dismissing him over driving a truck with broken suspension springs. Godlejewski accepted that he drove the damaged vehicle instead of taking it to a mechanic as instructed, and his unfair dismissal compensation was reduced by 50%. His complaints under the Industrial Relations (Amendment) Act and Redundancy Payments Act were not well founded. Neither party said he had been made redundant.
