The WRC found that a worker was not dismissed after an argument at work and that he could have returned if he apologised. The employer said it sent him home because he was angry and expected him to return after apologising. The worker said he was fired after raising concerns about products sold in the shop. Adjudication Officer Niamh O’Carroll found the complaint not well founded in a decision dated 31 July 2023. The officer found that the worker left after being challenged about his attendance and chose not to return.
