The Workplace Relations Commission found Derek Byrne’s Payment of Wages complaint was not well founded because he named the wrong employer. The decision, dated 5 June 2024, found that Byrne was employed by Castle Rook Limited, not Clonmannon House Retirement Village Limited (In Liquidation). Byrne said he had not received wages since December 2022 and believed his employment had transferred to the respondent. The liquidator argued that his employment contract was with Castle Rook Limited. The WRC decided the employer-identity issue, rather than whether the wages he claimed were owed.
