WRC rejects disability discrimination complaint against Gleeson Concrete

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission found Eamon O'Doherty’s disability discrimination complaint against Gleeson Concrete not well founded in a decision dated 3 June 2025. His separate unfair-dismissal complaint was withdrawn. O'Doherty said the company failed to provide reasonable accommodation after sight loss left him unable to resume truck driving. The WRC found its decision not to let him operate yard machinery was consistent with medical advice, that no sales vacancy existed and that requiring the small business to create an office role would impose a burden. No compensation was ordered.
