Equality Officer Anne-Marie Lynch found that Primera Soft Furnishings Ltd did not discriminate against Ms Amanda Weldon because of pregnancy. The recommendation was dated 9 February 2001. Ms Weldon said she was passed over for a manager position, lost supervisory duties and was selected for lay-off because she was pregnant. The company said it appointed a manager to improve factory operations and reduced staffing during a slack period. The Equality Officer found inconsistencies in Ms Weldon’s account and said her evidence did not establish a prima facie case of discrimination. The complaint was not upheld.
