The Equality Tribunal rejected Viktors Jurkevics’s complaint of race discrimination and discriminatory dismissal against Limestone Construction Ltd in a decision dated 27 October 2009. Jurkevics said he was dismissed without redundancy pay and had not received proper employment documents or training. He also alleged accommodation deductions and being asked to work outside the jurisdiction. Limestone Construction Ltd did not attend the hearing. The Equality Officer found that Jurkevics had not shown he was treated less favourably than colleagues or established facts from which discrimination could be inferred. Jurkevics said colleagues of different nationalities were treated the same way.
