Equality Tribunal finds against two workers after they miss race discrimination hearing

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

Workplace decision ·

The Equality Tribunal found against two workers in race discrimination complaints against Ruskim Seafoods Ltd after they failed to attend the hearing. Equality Officer Stephen Bonnlander dated the decision 25 March 2015. The merits were not decided. Mr Rimantas Juodris and Mr Sarunas Juodris alleged that they were not paid for public holiday work while other workers were paid. Neither they nor their representative attended the joint hearing; the company’s representative did. The Equality Officer found the workers’ failure to attend unreasonable and concluded the investigation because no evidence was presented in support of the allegations.
