Equality Officer rejects worker’s discrimination, harassment and victimisation claims

By Ruairí Dolan

Workplace decision ·

An Equality Officer rejected a worker’s claims of discrimination, harassment and victimisation against an employer, finding she had not established a prima facie case. Equality Officer Michael McEntee dated the decision 30 July 2015. The worker alleged discrimination on sexual-orientation, religion and gender grounds, including in promotion, training, working conditions and dismissal. She also alleged harassment, sexual harassment and victimisation. The employer disputed the claims, saying they lacked supporting detail and pointing to its workplace policies and meetings with the worker. The officer found there was not substantial evidence of dates, times, places or named people on which an investigation could proceed. All of the claims failed.
