An Equality Officer found that a parent had not established that A Theatre Group discriminated against her son, who wanted to continue in its drama programme. The decision was dated 23 December 2014.
The parent said the group excluded her son because of behaviour associated with his disabilities and did not give her a chance to address its concerns. A Theatre Group said the programme’s second year was cancelled because there were too few participants.
The officer found that the group had accommodated the boy during the first year and that the second year did not proceed because there were not enough participants. The officer also accepted that the group tried to discuss how to accommodate his needs, but the parent did not engage despite two further calls.
