A family law client’s four Equal Status complaints against a solicitor failed. In a decision dated 4 November 2016, Equality Officer Peter Healy found no evidence that the solicitor came off record because of the client’s disability or victimised him. The client also failed to establish discrimination on gender or marital-status grounds, or that the solicitor failed to provide reasonable accommodation when he asked the client to stop recording a meeting.
The solicitor said trust and confidence had broken down between them and rejected the allegations.
