The Labour Court upheld the Equality Officer’s finding that Boxmore Plastics Limited did not discriminate against Elizabeth Farrell Cassidy in selecting candidates for a General Operative (weekend shift) post. The determination was signed on 25 January 2000. Cassidy had challenged the interview process, including the delay before her interview, references to her husband and questions about her former boutique. The Court found no evidence that the delay or boutique reference was discriminatory, accepted the company’s explanation for mentioning her husband, and found the company’s explanation for her unsuccessful interview reasonable.
