The Labour Court dismissed John Ledwidge’s appeal over a rejected age and gender discrimination complaint concerning a Money Advisor recruitment process, upholding the Equality Officer’s decision. The Court’s decision was signed on 21 February 2008. Ledwidge had applied for a full-time role that was changed to part-time, and was unsuccessful after interview. He argued that the change favoured female applicants and that an interview panel member treated him unfairly because of his age and gender. Dublin South East Money Advice and Budgeting Services said the funding body would not approve the extra funding for a full-time adviser. The Court found that Ledwidge had not established facts from which discrimination could be presumed and saw no pattern of age or gender discrimination in the process.
