The Labour Court dismissed a worker’s complaint that she was discriminated against when her employment ended after she rejected a manager’s alleged sexual advances. The Court signed its decision on 26 April 1993.
The worker said the manager made advances and later made lewd remarks and sexual jokes at work. The company disputed her allegations, citing her work performance and probationary period. The Court considered conflicting accounts. It noted that the worker had not reported the alleged harassment to colleagues or raised it during the discussion about her proposed dismissal, and that witnesses called on her behalf did not corroborate her account. The Court was not satisfied that the complaint was well founded and dismissed it.
