The WRC recommended that Community Healthcare pay a worker €445.46 net for cancelled overtime and €1,000 compensation for its delay in responding to a grievance. The recommendation was dated 21 June 2023. The worker said agreed overtime shifts were cancelled and repeated attempts to resolve the issue through the grievance process went unanswered. Community Healthcare said the HR manager was on long-term sick leave, had no record of the meeting and offered the net amount the worker would have earned. The adjudication officer found the worker had tried to exhaust internal procedures and that the employer’s lack of response fell short of what was expected of a reasonable employer. The WRC also recommended grievance-policy training for people managers, including directors, within 10 months.
