The WRC recommended that a restaurant pay a former server €200 for upset caused by a dispute that preceded her resignation. The recommendation, dated 8 March 2024, also called for appropriate employment terms and relevant workplace policies, including a dignity at work policy. The worker said a manager used abusive language, including calling her a “dummy”, and that she had to resign. The manager denied using those words and said he was frustrated after she served alcohol early on a Sunday and went outside the menu. The WRC noted that the parties disagreed about what was said and that she had not been trained in the rules for serving alcohol.
