The WRC recommended that a health service provider appoint a worker to Grade V, backdated to 21 August 2023, and pay €4,000 compensation. The recommendation was dated 28 May 2025. The worker said a 2021 collective agreement covered his role and sought the higher grade and backpay. The employer accepted the matter could have been handled better and said a recruitment embargo delayed its resolution. The adjudication officer found that the agreement applied to the worker and that the employer had already placed the first permanent new hire at Grade V, but had not applied the agreement to him or adequately explained the delay.
