In 1987, the Labour Court recommended £100 compensation for each of 13 night-pack workers at Dunnes Stores Limited’s Kilnamanagh branch after their hours were spread across an extra late-trading night. The recommendation was signed on 26 February 1987. The Irish Distributive and Administrative Trade Union said the extra night brought travel and babysitting costs without additional earnings. Dunnes Stores did not attend the hearing. The Court accepted that the workers incurred extra expenses and recommended compensation.
