In 1987, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport and General Workers Union’s claim to retain a temporary worker at Aer Lingus. The recommendation was signed on 13 March 1987. The union said the worker had performed well in a post-section role it regarded as permanent, and that others in similar circumstances had been appointed. Aer Lingus said he was hired for one season and that a permanent panel member later filled the position. The Court considered that he had been employed on a strictly temporary basis and did not consider the company had acted unreasonably or unfairly.
