The Labour Court recommended a 5.5% pay increase for nine salesmen at B. Daly (Ireland) Limited, covering the 12 months from 1 September 1986. The recommendation was signed on 19 March 1987. The Sales Marketing and Administrative Union of Ireland had sought a 9% increase, a salary scale and salary alignment. B. Daly opposed a salary scale, citing its bonus and commission system. The Court recommended continued negotiations on salary realignment but did not recommend introducing a salary scale at that time.
