Labour Court recommends interim Bus Eireann compensation offer for Busáras staff

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended that Bus Eireann’s compensation offer for Busáras staff be accepted and implemented on an interim basis, with claims reconsidered after a full year using actual individual losses. The recommendation, concerning claims by the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union (ITGWU) and the National Association of Transport Employees (NATE), was signed on 5 June 1987. The unions sought compensation for workers affected by roster changes that removed regular overtime and reduced Sunday and public-holiday work. Bus Eireann had offered twice the annual loss, capped at £4,000 per worker.
