In 1987, the Labour Court recommended that Radio Telefis Eireann (Radio Telefís Éireann) assign Dublin staff to Radio na Gaeltachta to provide a national and international news service, with those staff clearly identified as assigned to the station. The recommendation was signed on 13 July. The dispute with the National Union of Journalists concerned whether Nuacht staff in Dublin could provide the service. The Court said the agreement allowed a Dublin service but did not permit Radio na Gaeltachta’s service to be absorbed into Nuacht. It also recommended that the parties discuss reporting arrangements between the assigned staff member and the station’s Ceannaire.
