In 1987, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union's claims for higher shift premiums and two extra days of annual leave at Sifco. The recommendation was signed on 17 September 1987. The Court found that Sifco's existing shift-premium and leave arrangements were in line with those at comparable firms locally and nationally.
