In 1987, the Labour Court recommended that Edenderry Shoe Company amend its redundancy offer to provide 2.5 weeks’ pay per year of service, and that the workers accept the amended offer. The recommendation was signed on 23 September 1987. The recommendation followed the Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union’s claim for enhanced redundancy compensation.
