The Labour Court recommended that workers accept settlement terms for Boart Europe Limited’s 27th wage round, in a recommendation signed on 29 October 1987. The Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union, the National Electrical Engineering Trade Unions and the Amalgamated Engineering Union had sought an 8% increase over 12 months. After workers rejected earlier conciliation terms of 3% from January and 1% from October, the Court said the terms in the Industrial Relations Officer’s letter of 22 July 1987 were fair and reasonable and recommended their acceptance to settle the unions’ claim.
