The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union's claim to withdraw warning letters issued to shift bosses at Tara Mines Limited. The recommendation was signed on 11 February 1988. The warnings followed incidents during an unofficial dispute in which shift bosses did not carry out instructions to move equipment into the mine. The union said the instructions had been addressed through other workers and sought removal of the warnings. Tara Mines Limited said the incidents involved serious disciplinary breaches and potential safety risks. The Court considered the company's action warranted in light of the duties and responsibilities of the posts.
