Labour Court recommends annual meetings on Wyeth pension scheme

By Orla Quinn

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended an annual structured meeting between Wyeth (Ireland) Limited and representatives of all its workers to review the pension scheme. The recommendation was signed on 18 March 1988, following a claim by the Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union concerning negotiations for around 130 workers. The union argued that pensions formed part of workers’ pay and should be open to negotiation. The company said separate negotiations were not appropriate because it sought one uniform scheme across the Wyeth group. The Court accepted that one scheme should cover all employees and recommended the review meetings.
