In 1988, the Labour Court recommended that claimants accept Wilkes Cerdac Ltimited's proposal to buy out their luncheon vouchers. The recommendation was signed on 21 March 1988. The Irish Print Union wanted the vouchers retained and their value increased, arguing that their value had eroded. Wilkes Cerdac Ltimited had offered £115 gross for the buy-out.
