In 1988, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding a shift-rate claim by the Bakery and Food Workers’ Amalgamated Union for a worker in the processing department at Irish Biscuits Limited. The recommendation was signed on 13 July 1988. The union said the worker covered for colleagues who received a shift premium. Irish Biscuits Limited said he was employed as a day worker and did not work shifts. The Court found the claim was not sustainable and did not recommend its concession.
