The Labour Court recommended that Dubarry Shoes Limited implement pay terms under the National Programme for Recovery from 1 December 1987, following a wage-round claim by the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union. The recommendation was signed on 21 July 1988. The union sought a 7% pay rise and improvements to pension and sick pay arrangements. The company argued that market conditions and its financial position made a pay increase unaffordable. The Court also recommended that the parties continue negotiations on pension and sick pay schemes during the agreement.
